I finally took the plunge and told my self consciousness to suck it long enough to get in front of a camera and style some outfits for ABD. And what better time than SPRING?!
Spring is my favorite season - I was born on the first day of Spring after all! Feminine dresses, warmer weather, flowers in bloom everywhere you go. Fresh showers that I can cuddle up to a good book during, a load of sunshine with a dash of breeze - which showed up for this shoot as you can see. Everything seems renewed. This year bright pastels and florals are popping up in stores all over. For our very first Look Book, I styled three looks, perfect for spring, straight from my closet, some new pieces some old - and nothing costly enough to break the bank.
The first - High Waisted Shorts (Similar here) With a Forever 21 Cami topped with a Tie-Front Button-up tank top (Similar here) and these cute Valentino inspired heels (Actual available here - more affordable version available here). I love the way a higher waist line really accentuates curves - and trust me, it makes me look like I have a little more going on than I do! I'm an old fashioned girl, and a mommy, so crop tops and bare bellies aren't really my thing, but a tank takes care of that and I love the pop of this neon top against the darker denim bottom. The heels take this ensemble from casual to chic and again, add a little sass where this outfit is otherwise understated.
The second style is one of my go to's - A high low abstract floral print maxi dress (similar available here and here) with my FAVE nude heels from Lolashoetique.com (available here). The glasses are Kenneth Cole, (similar here) and the blush cross body bag is Steve Madden (similar here) I always tell my husband, 99% of the reason I wear dresses so often - it's a one piece "outfit." So easy to dress up or down, and they instantly make you feel chic. The light fabric adds a bit of whimsy and again, since I tend to lean toward the dressy, these clean and classic pumps just up the ante enough for me to feel casual but all the while not too casual. Outfits like this do just enough for me not to need any fussy jewelry or extra touches.
My third look is simple, but busy enough to look like I tried harder than I did (noticing a trend about my style yet? Mama's always on the go!) A floral high low tunic (similar here) and dark denim shorts (same here) with the same nude heels from above. Originally I had paired this look with salmon colored sandals, but let's be real, I really am more comfortable in heels than on flat land. This is simple enough for the grocery store or a fun lunch with your girlfriends, if you're me - maybe nix the heels in the produce aisle if it's not your thing! But you get the point. It's fun and flirty, not too constricting or revealing, but still sexy with a little leg. Just my speed.
I did one makeup look for all three outfits - reflective of spring. A pop of purple and blush, and a lavender pink lip. The tutorial for this look is live now - watch it here!
