The Beauty Report Card: Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation
There's a reason foundation is called just that - it's the basis of your entire make up look - the canvas to it all, if you will. I personally am a foundation loyalist (Matchmaster for life!) and because of that, I know the love hate relationship with trying to find that coveted "Holy Grail" Foundation to add to your routine.
I was provided the new Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra Longwear Foundation to try in advance of its release courtesy of Influenster, in partnership with Laura Mercier. I used the shade "Pecan," a medium deep shade with neutral undertones, as well as
their translucent powder - more on that below. This foundation is marketed on Sephora.com as "A 15-hour, long-wearing, oil-free, and transfer-resistant liquid foundation with a matte finish and weightless, medium-to-full coverage." It retails $48.00 for 1 fluid ounce and comes in 20 shades.
Given that I'd never tried a Laura Mercier Foundation, I decided to try this one out for a longer spell than I normally would prior to reviewing; and in the most temperamental summer weather I could think of - Las Vegas. If you want to know if a foundation is worth its almost $50.00 price, try it out in weather that spans from scorching 108+ degree heat to humid desert rain in the span of a week!
The real seller of this foundation for me is the finish. It has a gorgeous matte airbrushed finish to it that I just could not (and still cannot - wearing it as I type!) get over. It's not at all what I would define as a full coverage foundation, but it is a buildable medium coverage and it's virtually weightless, even with double layering. I also put its transfer resistant claims to the test. While it didn't get all over my clothes or hands - rest in pieces to all the fashion I've lost to greasy foundation stains - It did make a small mark on my hubby's sleeve when I decided to use him as a pillow at an IMAX theater - whoops! It washed out easily enough, however, and I have definitely noticed a marked reduction in finding tan fingerprints on things after I've accidentally touched my face. Altogether this foundation lives up to it's claims, and surpassed my own expectations. Laura Mercier, I am made a believer!
